1955 Dodge  dashboard

In 1955 Dodge, a system of three-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and two-speed automatic PowerFlite, 1955 was a year just for the automatic transmission lever mounted on the dashboard, air-cooled Transmission PowerFlite it, this unit works is simpler because it does not use a vacuum modulator, Life PowerFlite can be extended by first switching to the drive (the foot on the brake) to cut the engine idle speed and then going backwards. During the rebuild, the transmission of life will also be extended by installing bearing spring kick-down in the trash, not in PowerFlite, 1955 dodge supported with tailshaft parking brake so the rear brakes simplify.

1955 Dodge back

Excellence PowerFlite system is that it comes with the rear axle of four wings, with four pinion unit will be much stronger than that offered prior to 1955, In 1956 the four pinion as high performance options. 3.54 is the standard rear gear with PowerFlite, 3.73 is an optional ratio. Manual transmissions have six of 3.9, 4.3 with overdrive, while fellow V8 received 3.73, 4.1 with overdrive. These are the two pinion units and does not seem as strong as four units of the wing.
